Those who were planning on watching the Edmonton Oilers from the Moss Pit will need to make different arrangements.
The Oilers announced on Friday afternoon that the outdoor watch party has been cancelled due to weather conditions. The watch party inside Rogers Place will remain ongoing, as will the heated tent event in the Play Alberta Fan Park.
“Please be advised that the Ford Tailgate Party in ICE District Plaza is cancelled tonight due to high winds,” the Oilers said in a statement.
This is a major bummer for Oilers fans, who always pack up the Moss Pit and show tremendous support for their team regardless of whether games are being played at home or on the road.
For those who were looking to head to the Moss Pit, there are tickets still available for the watch party inside Rogers Place going for just $10. Fans looking to enter the Play Alberta Fan Park will need to ensure they have their free LOILTY Rewards membership in order to gain access.
There is some stress among Oilers fans right now after dropping Game 2 on Wednesday night by a 6-4 final. Rather than heading to Anaheim up 2-0 in the series following a win in Game 1, they are evenly split, with the Ducks now holding home-ice advantage.
Perhaps the biggest storyline to date in this series is that Connor McDavid has been off the scoresheet. In hopes of getting him going, head coach Kris Knoblauch has moved Ryan Nugent-Hopkins onto his wing, while putting Matt Savoie on the third line with Josh Samanski and Jack Roslovic. Connor Ingram will once again draw the start between the pipes.
Puck drop for Friday’s outing is set for 8 p.m. MST.
