Edmonton Oilers defenceman Troy Stecher apparently isn’t afraid to say what’s on his mind, regardless of the audience.
The 31-year-old, who was inserted late in the Oilers’ second round series versus the Vegas Golden Knights and has played an integral role on the back end since, joined Jack Michael and Bob Stauffer for a quick interview during the first intermission of Game 2 versus the Dallas Stars. Despite it being a quick conversation, it’s one that won’t be forgotten about anytime soon.
“That was a good first 20,” Stecher said with the Oilers up 1-0. “Last game we had a good first 20, a good first 40, and then we sh*t the bed in the third. The focus has got to be on a good strong [second] period here.”
Stecher wasn’t done there, as he made his love for Stauffer known after Michaels had made a sarcastic jab at his broadcasting partner.
“I f*cking love Bob. Oh my god,” said Stecher, who quickly realized that he’d made a second on-air slip up. “I love Bob so much.”

Making the entire incident even better was the fact that Stauffer, a beloved member of the Oilers media, could not contain his laughter for several moments afterward.
“The daily double. Troy started it with some colourful analysis, and finished it,” Michaels said. “That’s why you tune into 880 CHED. It’s gotta be after midnight somewhere, right? Look at Bob, he’s giggling like a school boy.”
