It may not be very long before the Edmonton Oilers are back to being a healthy group.
The Oilers, who are in a tight battle with the LA Kings for second place in the Pacific Division, have been ravaged by injuries as of late. They’ve been forced to play without Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl recently, though the latter was able to suit up on Saturday against the Calgary Flames.
They’ve also continued to be without Evander Kane, who has yet to play this season, as well as recent trade acquisition Trent Fredric. That may soon change, however.
Based on a report from Sportsnet’s Mark Spector, both Kane and Frederic are expected to join their teammates at morning skate today in Las Vegas. And, if that weren’t already exciting enough, Spector also reported that McDavid has travelled with the team for this four-game road trip.
It sounds like Connor McDavid made the trip to Vegas with the team after all.
But while Trent Frederic and Evander Kane are expected to take the morning skate with the team today, 97 seems less likely to do so.

Though McDavid isn’t expected to be in the lineup tonight, this suggests that he may be ready to suit up later this week. The Oilers captain hasn’t been at his best this season but still sits sixth in league scoring with 90 points through 63 games.
As for Kane and Frederic, getting them back into the lineup would not only help add to the Oilers’ scoring but their team’s toughness. Both are physical wingers who enjoy making life difficult on the opposing team’s defencemen thanks to their strong forechecking.
Due to the Oilers’ cap situation, it doesn’t seem as though we will see Kane until the playoffs begin, though that would still be a positive sign as it had been quite unclear whether or not he would be ready to go in round one. As for Frederic, he may wind up getting a couple of regular-season games with his new group to see where he best fits into the lineup.
