How about those Edmonton Oilers?
The Oilers weren’t nearly as favoured entering the Stanley Cup Playoffs as they were entering the 2024-25 season. There were plenty of concerns stemming from injuries, goaltending issues, and an overall roster that many felt lacked the depth pieces to go on any sort of run.
This team has seemingly picked things up at the right time, however, as they trailed the LA Kings 2-0 in their first-round series before storming back for four straight wins. They continued their hot play with two wins to begin their second-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights, and currently hold a 3-1 series lead thanks to a 3-0 win in Game 4 on Monday.
The Oilers’ offence has exploded through their first 10 games of the postseason, as they are averaging a league-best 4.20 goals per game. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have helped with plenty of that, having combined for 32 points, but the dynamic duo may not be the biggest thing opposing teams need to worry about right now.
In Monday’s win over the Golden Knights, it was the Adam Henrique show, as the 35-year-old scored not one, but two goals in the first period to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Adam Henrique goes between his legs for his second of the game! 👌 #StanleyCup

Then, nearly midway into the second frame, Evander Kane scored the third and final goal of the evening.

This game served as a good reminder to everybody that this Oilers team is getting offence from plenty of players not named McDavid and Draisaitl right now.
Kane has been better than anybody could have expected after missing the regular season, as he’s up to four goals and seven points in the playoffs. Connor Brown, who is really starting to establish himself as a postseason threat, has matching totals.
Perhaps the most impressive of the bunch is veteran forward Corey Perry, who is already up to five goals.
One week from today, Corey Perry will be 40 years old and still scoring goals like he's in his prime.

Every Oilers forward who has been a regular throughout the playoffs has at least a goal and three points, further indicating how their success to this point has been a group effort. They’ll be working for more of the same on Wednesday night as they look to eliminate the Golden Knights and advance to the Western Conference Final.
