Mark your calendars, Edmonton: the next municipal election is on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025.
Every four years, we choose a mayor, city councillors, and school trustees. Here’s what you need to know to cast your ballot this fall.
Advance voting runs from October 7 to 11, with stations open from noon to 8 p.m., and on Election Day, polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
What you’ll need to bring
You’re eligible to vote if you’re 18 or older on election day, a Canadian citizen, and living in Edmonton on Oct. 20 with your Edmonton address as your residence. Don’t forget to bring your ID — you can use an Alberta driver’s licence, an Alberta identification card, or another option from Edmonton Elections’ approved list, but only original documents are accepted.
But if you don’t have an ID, you may still be able to complete an attestation form to vote.

Other ways to vote
If you can’t make it on Oct. 20, you can head to your assigned advance voting station earlier in the month or apply for a special ballot if you can’t vote in person. To find your designated station, just enter your address on the Edmonton Elections website.
