12 Edmonton companies hiring more than 70 positions this January

If you’re thinking of finding a new job to kick-start 2021, now is the time to update your resume and see what’s out there.

Even though we’re in a pandemic, there are still several companies looking to hire Edmonton residents this month.

Who: The City of Edmonton is the municipal governing body that keeps public services in Edmonton running.
Jobs: It’s hiring more than a dozen positions open to external candidates right now, including various types of technicians, managers of departments, and general labourers.
Perks: The City says it has a commitment to work/life balance and its positions come with a comprehensive benefits package.

Who: This centralized agency is the healthcare provider for the entire province of Alberta.
Jobs: There are dozens of openings for qualified individuals to work as nurses and health technicians. There are also several more general openings for positions such as benefits administrators and consultants.
Perks: AHS is an award-winning employer that says it values diversity and inclusion and supports its staff.

Who: This Edmonton-based video game studio was established in 1995 and is known for Anthem, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Baldur’s Gate, MDK 2, Neverwinter Nights, and its Star Wars titles. It’s now under the EA Games umbrella.
Jobs: BioWare is hiring a narrative designer in its cinematics department.
Perks: The office is conveniently located in Epcor Tower, and staff have access to an onsite gym. There’s also free breakfast every morning. When not designing games, staff have plenty of opportunities to play them. There’s also a social culture at the company with ski trips, tea times, dragon boating, soccer, and board game nights.

Who: This organization advocates for all drivers in the province of Alberta.
Jobs: They’re hiring 18 positions in Edmonton right now including marketing and communications positions, driving examiners, data analysts and a project manager.
Perks: The AMA says its staff treat each other like friend and family, and benefits include paid vacation, sick days, volunteer days, and floater days. It provides health benefits, a fully employer-paid pension plan, and personal development programs.

Amazon’s new warehouse in Edmonton (Amazon Canada)

Who: This global retail giant just opened a new warehouse near Edmonton’s airport, and it employs about 600 full-time staff.
Jobs: Amazon is hiring one position based in Edmonton right now: a WHS Specialist.
Perks: Amazon allows full-time employees to choose from a selection of health benefits plans to suit them, and their benefits package includes employer matching for retirement savings contributions. Plus, Amazon employees get discounts on certain products sold by the retailer.

Who: This teaching and research university with a campus in central Edmonton is one of the largest employers in Alberta.
Jobs: The university is hiring dozens of positions right now, from academic faculty roles to positions that keep the institution running, such as a web developer.
Perks: The university offers health and dental benefits, paid leave and vacation, a pension plan, plus funding and reimbursement programs.

Who: Granify helps clients make more money by optimizing its customers’ online shopping experience. It calls itself a company at the intersection of e-commerce, machine learning, and psychology. Its offices in Edmonton typically recruit graduates from the University of Alberta’s data science programs, but the company also has outposts in New York and Texas.
Jobs: It’s hiring 10 positions in Edmonton in both their technology department and their business-focused “growth” section.
Perks: Granify says it values focus, positivity, and self-improvement. To that end, the company has programs and a culture that fosters employee growth.

Who: This company provides IT solutions to its clients. It works with some high-profile organizations in Alberta, including the provincial government, Enbridge, and the Alberta Medical Association. ARC started in Edmonton in 1998 and has grown across Canada and the US.
Jobs: They’re hiring a Java/Web Services Developer based in Edmonton right now.
