Edmonton City services adjust hours on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is almost here, and the City of Edmonton will make some minor adjustments to its services to reflect this important day.

Most services will remain open this Wednesday, Sept. 30; however, some adjustments are in place.

Recreation facilities 

Depending on the facility, recreation centres will either be closed or operating on holiday hours on Wednesday. Be sure to check online for facility hours before heading out.

Cart collection

Eco Stations will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Edmonton Transit Service will run on a regular weekday schedule. All school specials are cancelled, including Route 622 and shorter Route 4 trips.

Attractions/other

The Edmonton Valley Zoo and the Muttart Conservatory will be open during regular hours on Wednesday.

The Animal Care and Control Centre will be closed.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the City will lower flags to half-mast, light the High Level Bridge in orange, place orange ribbons on fleet vehicles, and have staff wear orange shirts and pins. These actions honour the children who never made it home, the survivors, and the ongoing legacy of Indian Residential Schools.
