Aug 17 2020, 4:39 pm

The heat warning continues in Edmonton.

After much of Alberta fell under an Environment Canada heat warning on Sunday, the government agency has decided to renew it for Edmonton as of Monday morning.

The renewed warning states that temperatures are expected to be seen above 29ºC until mid-week, and that anyone in the affected regions should take precautions against heatstroke and exhaustion.

Here are the recommendations supplied in the official warning:

  • Consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day.
  • If you are going to be indoors in a public building, such as a mall, be sure to respect and follow all COVID requirements, including physical distancing and masks.
  • Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.
  • Check for your children or pets before you exit your vehicle. Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.

A heat warning is also in place for a total of 69 other Alberta regions, most of them landing on the east side of the province.

A full list of affected regions can be found here.
