Snow won't stand a chance with Edmonton forecast to be hit by some December heat

The chilly temperatures that have hugged Edmonton will be over soon, and the warmup on the way for the city will likely melt a serious amount of snow.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Edmonton is set to experience a hefty temperature swing, going from a daytime high of -16°C on Sunday to a daytime high of 8°C on Tuesday.

The city will see periods of light snow today and mainly sunny tomorrow, with a high of -16ÂșC in the forecast for today and shooting up to a high of 2°C on Monday.

The overnight lows are also changing drastically in short order, going from -15°C tonight to 1°C tomorrow night.

The temperatures sure take a massive jump as we roll through the upcoming workweek, with Tuesday eyeing up a lovely daytime high of 8ÂșC. Wednesday isn’t looking too hot with a high of -10ÂșC and flurries, but things start to improve with a high of -1°C on Thursday and Friday and Saturday are set to be gorgeous with a high of 6°C and 7°C, respectively.

When you do the math between the daytime high on Sunday and the daytime high on Tuesday, that’s a difference of 24 Celsius degrees over just a couple of days.

According to ECCC, the normal temperatures for Edmonton at this time of year are a high of -4°C and a low of -12ÂșC.
