Edmonton forecast to see hottest day of year so far then a BIG temperature drop

Apr 30 2025, 6:14 pm

Get those sunnies out, Edmonton. The hottest temps of the year so far are set to hug our city before a big temperature drop arrives shortly after.

Our city is set to experience its warmest daytime highs so far this year, with Saturday forecast to reach a gorgeous 28°C and plenty of sunshine. If that temperature holds, it easily surpasses the warmest daytime high of 2025 to date, which we reached last Saturday at 22.7°C.

We can’t forget about how gorgeous Friday will be too, at 27°C, and you’d better get out and enjoy the warmth while it lasts. On Saturday evening, the temperature takes a wild swing here in Edmonton, dropping to 6°C.

When you do the math between Saturday’s daytime high and overnight low, that’s a bumpy temperature change of 22 degrees in one day. Be sure to open up your windows later in the evening for a cool sleep!

Sunday isn’t looking too cute with a mix of sun and cloud, high of 16°C and low of 5°C; however, temperatures rebound as we start a fresh workweek and reach as high as 24°C on Tuesday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the average high for this time of year in Edmonton is 15°C, while the average low is 3°C.

If you were curious about how May is looking for Alberta, we also chatted with ECCC about all that.
