4th Annual Black History Month Celebration at the Legislature

What: MLA David Shepherd hosts the 4th annual celebration of Black History Month in Alberta at the Alberta Legislature. The event features music, speeches, spoken word, and a special guest who will speak on behalf of the Black community at large.

Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes

What: TELUS World of Science Edmonton is featuring an epic Marvel exhibition that runs until February. The exhibition will feature more than 300 artifacts, including some of Marvel’s most iconic and sought-after pages, costumes, and props, chronicling the story of Marvel and its influence on visual culture while exploring the narratives of individual characters such as Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange.

No Place by Emmanuel Osahor

What: An exhibition by Emmanuel Osahor at McMullen Gallery made up of recent paintings of real and imagined landscapes in Edmonton, a living wall of tropical plants, as well as a soundscape of the Edmonton River Valley.

Wildfire at Rapid Fire Theatre

What: Rapid Fire Theatre’s annual teen improv festival. Wildfire consists of three different events: The Nosebowl High School Theatresports Tournament, The Alberta Regionals of the Canadian Improv Games, and The Wildfire Junior. Participant teams represent schools all across Alberta.

The Marriage of Figaro

Edmonton Outdoor Skating and Ice Rinks

What: Edmonton has a variety of outdoor skating and ice rinks to enjoy during the season. City-operated ice surfaces are monitored and maintained daily and will be closed if conditions are unsafe. Make sure to bring your skates and helmet, and check the rink status and conditions before heading out.

The New Works Festival 2020

What: The New Works Festival 2020 features new theatrical plays February 4 to 9. What: The fest takes place during the first week of February. The dining public can eat and vote on their favourites before a winner is announced at the end of the week. As always, February 1 will mark the kick-off of the self-proclaimed “biggest poutine festival in the world,” and it will run until February 7.
