Paws the Cat Cafe in Central Edmonton will be closing its doors this Sunday, October 27.

Paws is a coffeehouse in Queen Mary Park featuring beverages and a “Cat Lounge,” a room that is home to 11 adorable and adoptable kitties and one “PURRmanent” resident, according to the cafe’s website.

Visitors to Paws Cat Cafe were able to cozy up to some kitties and enjoy a coffee with a side of cuddles.

In a post to the cafe’s Facebook page, the owners Nicole and Mike addressed the community members that frequented the cafe.

“We appreciate your support over the last 22 months. All memberships to the cafe will be honoured until the day they expire,” the post read.

The cafe housed up to 12 cats at a time depending on availability from the Edmonton Humane Society, and according to the cafe’s website, 243 cats were adopted since 2017.

Visitors of the cafe took to the Facebook page to express their dismay at the news of the cafe’s closing.

“That’s so heartbreaking…I love both Edmonton cat cafe’s but you guys have a little bit more intimate and informal of a feeling. It was so easy to bond with the animals that way,” read a comment on the Facebook post.

If you want to cuddle some cats while you still can, head over to the cafe before 6 pm this Sunday — after which you’ll sadly have to find somewhere else to get “cat-fienated.”
