A huge chunk of Edmonton's Capital Line LRT is about to close for the weekend

Whether the LRT makes up part of your daily commute or you plan on riding it to Folk Fest, you’ll want to take note of some upcoming transit changes that could affect your trip.
A large section of the Capital Line is about to close for the weekend, while the Valley Line Southeast will offer more frequent service to Gallagher Park.
Capital Line closure
From 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7 until 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, Capital Line trains will not run between Churchill and Clareview stations. The closure is required to safely install overhead electrical lines north of 115th Avenue, according to the City of Edmonton.
Replacement buses will operate between Churchill and Clareview throughout the closure:
Friday, Aug. 7: Every seven to eight minutes from 8 p.m. until the end of service.
Saturday, Aug. 8: Every seven to eight minutes from the start of service until 7 p.m., then every 10 minutes until the end of service.
Sunday, Aug. 9: Every seven to eight minutes until 10 a.m.
Valley Line Southeast trains will not be affected. During the closure, Metro Line trains will continue to Century Park Station instead of turning around at Health Sciences/Jubilee Station.
Increased Valley Line service for the Folk Festival

The Edmonton Folk Music Festival runs from Aug. 6 to 9 at Gallagher Park. To make travelling to and from the festival easier, Edmonton Transit Service will increase Valley Line Southeast service.
Festival-goers can take the Valley Line to:
Muttart Stop for access to the bottom of the hill.
Strathearn Stop for access to the top of the hill.
Trains will run every 10 minutes during the following times:
Thursday, Aug. 6, through Saturday, Aug. 8: From 6:30 p.m. until the end of service.
Sunday, Aug. 9: From 2:30 p.m. until the end of service.
Free parking is available at Davies Station Park & Ride. Clareview, Belvedere and Stadium stations also offer free parking, with transfers to the Valley Line available at Churchill Station.
Regular fares apply to bus and LRT service. Children 12 and under ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying passenger.
More information, as well as replacement bus stop locations between Churchill and Clareview, is available on the City of Edmonton Transit Alerts page.
