Derek Ryan’s time with the Edmonton Oilers could be coming to an end.
The 38-year-old forward was tossed on waivers by the Oilers today, meaning that the other 31 NHL teams will get a chance to acquire him free of charge. We’ll find out if there are any takers at noon MT on Monday.
The Oilers also sent down defenceman Josh Brown, loaning him to their AHL affiliate in Bakersfield.

If Ryan goes unclaimed on waivers, he’ll join Brown in Bakersfield.
Ryan, who is in his fourth season with the Oilers, has five points (1-4-5) in 33 games this season. He’s averaging a career-low in ice time (9:24). Brown has played just eight NHL games this season, and another 20 in the AHL.
