Body found after fire in northwest Edmonton

Jan 27 2020, 6:56 pm

Edmonton police found a man’s body after a fire in the city’s northwest end this weekend, and homicide investigators are looking into the case.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services responded to the fire near 126 Avenue and 73 Street around 10 pm Sunday evening. When police arrived, they found the dead man.

Police have ruled the death suspicious, according to an Edmonton Police Service news release. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Police initially said the man’s body was found after a car fire, but said that statement was a mistake.

Investigators are also looking into another death near Sheffield industrial park. Around 7 am Monday morning, officers found a man’s body near 156 Street and 112 Avenue.

That death hasn’t yet been deemed suspicious or a homicide. Police are just saying it was “sudden.”
