As always, shoppers in Canada had to watch as a popular Costco product went viral — but it is finally making its way north of the border.
On June 25, Costco Canada announced that it’s finally bringing the grilled chipotle chicken to its locations.
“NEW ARRIVAL at Costco! Grilled Chipotle Chicken,” reads the post. “Is this going in your cart? 👀”

The chicken has gone viral as many online consider it a copycat version of the grilled chicken at Chipotle Mexican Grill. And because it’s fully cooked, netizens say it’s a quick way to add protein to burritos, rice bowls, tacos, or quesadillas.
The chicken comes in a one-kilogram bag and costs $16.99, and according to people who’ve purchased it, it can be found in the prepared meal section near the rotisserie chicken.
But does it actually live up to the hype?
It seems opinions are split.
“I am so disappointed in it. It’s a mix of chicken breast and rib meat, which explains why there were so many hard and rubbery pieces in this,” said B.C.-based content creator Crystal, who added that she plans to return the product.

“I’d rather buy rotisserie + chipotle/taco seasoning,” stated one Redditor.
But it was a big hit for other Costco Canada shoppers.
“This is really good. Almost like the chicken they put in the chicken taco kit,” one wrote. “I tried to create the homemade Chipotle bowl, and it turned out really great. Will buy it again.”
One shopper in Winnipeg stated, “This stuff is goooood. It’s like four-ish bucks extra per kilogram… but the time and efforts you save are worth it, especially if you’re not too big on cooking.”
