Edmonton's Chinatown Chow Down is back with more food crawls and challenges

Dec 3 2025, 5:19 pm

Season two of the Chinatown Chow Down officially began on Dec. 1, and we can’t wait to participate.

The Chinatown Chow Down highlights over 20 different restaurants and establishments in Chinatown. It’s part of a larger project to revitalize Edmonton’s Chinatown and offers a variety of events and deals to make it easier to visit and explore the neighbourhood, support local businesses, and celebrate the importance of Chinatowns.

From low-cost, monthly group lunches, group dinners, and food crawls, to an updated self-guided Culinary Passport Challenge, this second round of Chinatown Chow Down will be one to beat.

If you’re looking to tag along for the group lunches and dinners, there are many to enjoy from now through March 2026.

On Friday, Dec. 12, you can join the group at 97 Hot Pot for a delicious warm meal, or you can even visit Double Won Ton Greeting on Jan. 13 for a wonderful group dinner. For the full list of dates, visit the group lunches and dinners on its website.

There are also challenges to be a part of and participate in.

The self-guided Culinary Passport Challenge, or Chow Down Challenge, invites you to print or pick up a culinary passport at participating restaurants in Chinatown and then head straight into it. When you dine at participating restaurants in Chinatown, you can receive a Chinatown Chow Down passport sticker that marks your visit and support of that restaurant.

If you complete one culinary category, you will be entered for a chance to win gift cards to Chinatown restaurants. If you complete at least three, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a 10-course banquet meal in Chinatown. And, if you complete every category, you’ll be entered for a chance to win grand prizes, including a private Chinatown food tour for you and your friends.

You can find the form to submit your passport progress on the Chinatown Chow Down website. For more information or details on the challenge, you can check it on the website, as well.
