One of the U.K.'s favourite cafe brands has officially arrived in Edmonton
A new café spot is hitting Edmonton, all the way from London!
Chaiiwala of London is the U.K.’s beloved chai brand, serving up Karak Chaii, as well as desi breakfast, lunch and afternoon cravings.
It’s most known for its menu blending South Asian, East African, and British culinary influences. Whether it’s the Pink Chaii, Karak Coffee, or street food favourites like a Bombay Toastie or indulgent Gulab Jamun Cheesecake, it’s all flavourful and delicious.
The team behind Chaiiwala is focused on making authentic chai and street food, sharing it with the ones who love it as much as they do. Not only will the café be a place to grab food, but it’s also a place for people to gather and connect.

The Chaiiwala location will open Nov. 1, with its grand opening event happening on Nov. 15. This marks the first location in Edmonton and the beginning of Chaiwalla’s expansion into the Canadian market.
Since arriving in Scarborough in 2021, Canadian franchise co-founders Shiraj
Kothiwala and Ajmal Gundhra have been on a mission to share authentic chai culture and
create inclusive community spaces across Canada.
Now, there are currently 22 cafés open across four provinces, and they have a bold target of 100 cafés by 2030. It’s becoming one of the fastest-growing café brands in Canada.
This new Summerside location is part of that expansion, with the location carefully chosen for its family-friendly and diverse nature.
“Chaiiwala is about more than serving great tea; it’s about preserving tradition while creating new experiences for a modern audience. Edmonton is a dynamic, diverse city, and Summerside is the perfect community for us to become a part of,” says Ajmal Gundhra, co-founder of Chaiiwala Canada.
The first 100 customers at this new Summerside location in Edmonton will receive a free Karak Chaii, its signature beverage.
