Alberta gas prices will see a HUGE drop once the carbon tax ends Tuesday

If you’re a driver in Alberta, waiting a day or two to fill your gas tank could save you a ton of money.
Gas prices are set to drop significantly on Tuesday with the removal of the federal consumer carbon tax set to take effect on April 1.
According to the gas forecasting site Gas Wizard, prices in both Calgary and Edmonton will see steep declines at the pump. The tax, in place in Alberta since 2020, was set to increase by an additional $15 per tonne on April 1 but was scrapped earlier this month by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
How much of a drop can drivers expect?
In Calgary, regular gasoline is expected to fall by 11 cents to $1.39 per litre, while premium gas will decrease by five cents to $1.69.
Diesel prices are set to see the biggest cut, dropping a whopping 22 cents to $1.39 per litre.

Edmontonians can expect to see a similar drop. Regular gas in Alberta’s capital is set to fall by nine cents to $1.40 per litre, while premium gas will decrease by six cents to $1.69.
Once again, diesel drivers will see the biggest savings, with prices dropping 22 cents to $1.35 per litre.

With gas prices as high as they are and a trade war threatening to burn an even deeper hole in our pockets, any drop at the pump is a welcome relief, especially with summer on its way.
