An Edmonton driver apparently lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the kitchen of a townhouse Thursday afternoon.
Onlookers snapped photos of the red Ford Escape wedged into the building wall near 85 Street and Lakewood Road.
“It was reported to police that the vehicle drove through the intersection at a high rate of speed, mounted the curb, broke through a front fence and drove into the kitchen area of a nearby townhouse,” Carolin Maran with the Edmonton Police Service said.

Luckily the home’s occupants were in another room and weren’t hurt, she added. Damage to the home was extensive, though, and utility companies had to come out to assess if the residence was still safe to live in.
Two women were inside the car, and both were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The car had stolen plates on at the time, and Traffic Safety Act violations are pending, Maran said.
