Connor McDavid and his Canadian teammates will have a chance to win Olympic gold on Sunday.
Just as they did in the quarter-final versus Czechia, the Canadians had the entire nation stressing out from start to finish on Friday.
Going up against a talented Finnish team, Canada found themselves trailing 2-0 after goals from Mikko Rantanen and Erik Haula.
Things changed late in the second period, however, as Sam Reinhart got on the board to cut the deficit. It was all Canada from there on out, as Shea Theodore was able to tie things up midway through the third period, giving way for Nathan MacKinnon to put his stamp on these Games.

That goal wound up being challenged for offside, but stood after a lengthy review. Canada was then able to milk out the clock for the remaining 35 seconds to walk away with a gutsy victory.

Not to be overshadowed in this one was McDavid, who had yet another multi-point outing with two assists. He is now up to 12 points, which is the most by any hockey player in a single Olympics.

“Lot of stressful moments for everyone back home, but we’re having fun,” McDavid said postgame. “It’s a best-on-best tournament, I keep saying that, but we’re playing the best teams in the world, the best players in the world are going at it and giving everything they have. The margins are razor thin, you’ve seen that all the way through.”
McDavid and the rest of the gang will now await the winner of a semi-final on Friday afternoon between the U.S. and Slovakia to determine who they will play in the gold medal game. That final outing is set to take place on Sunday at 8:10 a.m. ET/ 5:10 a.m. PT.
