Canada fan goes viral for hilarious failed FIFA World Cup wave attempt

One soccer fan got a bit too excited during Canada’s FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match against South Africa on Sunday.
The game took a while to get exciting, as Canada’s Stephen EustĂĄquio scored the only goal of the match at the 92nd minute in injury time. Canadians in L.A., however, were still finding ways to root for the national team and kept entertained throughout.
It was a lively crowd that was chanting, dancing, and cheering. At one point, fans started doing the wave, and that is where disaster struck for one Canadian supporter trying to get in on the fun.
As the broadcast cut away from the action on the pitch, cameras caught the moment a Canadian fan accidentally tossed her phone away while trying to join in on the wave.
The dramatic scene saw the moment the phone left her hand and the realization on her face once she realized it was out of reach.

There has been no info on whether or not the Canadian fan was able to retrieve her phone, but at least she was able to celebrate a World Cup win for her country.
Fans across the country went wild in celebration during Canada’s historic Round of 32 victory. Watch parties in both Vancouver and Toronto exploded as soon as EustĂĄquio’s goal found the back of the net.
It was truly a sight to behold, as Canada has fully embraced the men’s national team for this World Cup run.

The win advanced the Canadians into the Round of 16 for the first time in World Cup history. They will play either Morocco or the Netherlands in Houston this Saturday, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
