One of Edmonton's cocktail bars has transformed into a Halloween-themed pop-up

Halloween lovers, this cocktail pop-up might pique your interest this season.

We were invited to visit the Black Lagoon pop-up, taking place at Dolly’s Cocktail Bar this October. This pop-up is a spooky Halloween cocktail event that runs yearly in October at over 30 locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Created by bar industry luminaries Erin Hayes and Kelsey Ramage, this pop-up offers a brand-new cocktail menu and a chilling, spooky atmosphere to round off the experience.

The decor was phenomenal

Stepping into Dolly’s was like getting transformed into a different dimension. Although we arrived when it was still light outside, the interior was dark and moody, with changing neon lights on every surface.

As you’re taken inside and sit, there is music as well as television projected onto the wall next to the bar. Following the Halloween theme, they played Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to add to the mood.

Above us were spiders along the ceiling, with draped spider webs creating a captivating ambiance from the top of the room to the bottom.

And the drinks were even better

The special menu for this event features a variety of drinks, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

We opted for the spirit-free offerings, including the White Zombie and the Widow Maker.

White Zombie was served in a purchasable, limited-edition mermaid mug by Tiki Farm, and the drink itself was almost a twist on a piƱa colada. With strong coconut notes complemented by cinnamon and lime, the drink was refreshingly delicious and hit all the right notes on my tongue.

It hit all the tropical themes, so if you’re looking for something to whisk you away to a warmer climate, White Zombie will definitely do you that favour.

As for theĀ Widow Maker, this drink features genmaicha tea, passionfruit, ube, and lemon. The ube is particularly strong, but the lemon adds a nice zest to make it a great mocktail.

These drinks are specially crafted, excellent, and offer the perfect bit of Halloween right in a glass.

If you’re looking to spice up the holiday season with a refreshing cocktail, the Black Lagoon at Dolly’s will be just up your alley. Don’t miss out, as this event only runs until Nov. 2.
