'First of its kind' animal hospital and hotel being built in Edmonton

A first-of-its-kind pet care development is coming to west Edmonton, combining a veterinary hospital, boarding facility, and short-term accommodations in one building.
The Edmonton Pet Hospital & Hotel Apartments will include an animal hospital, dog kennels, a pet store, grooming space, and a parking garage on the main floor.
Cat kennels and three residential units are planned for the second floor, with the third floor serving as the upper level of those units.
The project is planned for 11239 199 St. NW in the Winterburn Industrial Area East neighbourhood. A building permit was issued by the City of Edmonton on Dec. 2, 2025, following rezoning approval by city council in late 2023.

Clarity Development Advisory
“This DC2 Provision will allow for the development of an animal hospital and kennel facility with temporary accommodations for staff and guests, the first of its kind in Western Canada,” Clarity Development Advisory says.
Developed by Halliday Holdings in partnership with Clarity Development Advisory, the project brings veterinary care, boarding, and short-term accommodations together in one location.
The apartment-style units are intended to temporarily accommodate pet owners whose animals are receiving care, as well as staff working at the facility.
A timeline for construction has not been released, but once complete, the Edmonton Pet Hospital & Hotel Apartments is expected to be the first development of its kind in Western Canada.
