A shooting that took place in the neighbourhood of Ambleside on Thursday afternoon is believed to be a “targeted incident,” according to police.

Police say Southwest Division patrol members responded to a residential address near Wright Drive and 177 Street at approximately 3:05 pm after receiving a weapons complaint through 911.

“Upon arrival, it was reported to police that a male had sustained what appear to be gunshot wounds,” police confirmed via email. “Paramedics treated and transported the complainant to hospital with serious injuries.”

Police believe the shooting was a targeted incident and thus don’t believe the surrounding community is in any imminent danger at this time.

No suspects have been identified at this time, and police have yet to provide further details on the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact EPS.
