
Toronto-based Altea Active is bringing its luxury fitness and wellness concept to Edmonton, with a massive 125,000-square-foot flagship in the works at a former Rona location in west Edmonton, according to a report from Retail Insider.
Located at 17303 100th Ave. NW, the enormous new facility will feature amenities such as boutique fitness studios, women-only spaces, recovery and thermal zones, aquatics, a whopping 14 pickleball courts, two padel courts, lounges, and a café.

CEO Jeff York said Edmonton is “exactly the type of market” the company is looking to grow in, pointing to the city’s strong sense of community and appetite for premium health and wellness spaces.

“With this 125,000 square foot flagship, our goal is to create a wellness destination where people come together not only to work out, but to recover, socialize, and build community. This is about enhancing daily life and helping Edmontonians thrive,” he told Retail Insider.

The company also noted its presence is expected to complement surrounding retail, food, and service operators and support ongoing commercial revitalization in west Edmonton.
Altea already operates clubs in Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Ottawa, with plans to expand into Calgary and other parts of the GTA in the future.
An opening date has not been announced.
