Alberta restaurants and bars to close for in-person indoor service
Alberta officials have announced updated restrictions for bars, pubs, and restaurants in the province that will come into effect later this week.
On Tuesday, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced that the province would be moving back into Step 1 COVID-19 restrictions, which includes some specific changes for restaurants and other food-and-beverage businesses.

Starting at noon on Friday, April 9, indoor in-person service is no longer permitted at Alberta’s restaurants, bars, lounges, and cafes. Dining establishments can continue to offer takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery services.
Outdoor patio dining will also be permitted, but it remains limited to household members only, or two close contacts for those who live alone.
These measures will be in effect until further notice, as health officials continue to monitor the spread of the virus and assess whether additional action is needed to help reduce transmission.
