If you’re a Canadian who has recently faced unexpected issues at the U.S.-Canada border, we want to hear from you.

Amid rising tensions between Canada and the U.S., travelling south of the border is becoming an increasingly controversial issue. A trade war between the U.S. and Canada, as well as U.S. President Donald Trump’s 51st state rhetoric, have led many Canadians to cancel their U.S. vacations in protest.

A lot of Canadians are choosing to travel elsewhere, and a recent report from OAG reveals that bookings during peak travel months have dropped by as much as 70 per cent, a drop anticipated by Canadian airlines that have been reducing flights to the U.S.

Recently, a U.S. border agent’s comment to a Canadian traveller sparked mixed reactions, and in March, B.C. resident Jasmine Mooney was held in a U.S. detention centre after attempting to cross into the U.S. from Mexico on March 3.

Canadians have certainly been feeling increasingly worried about travelling to the U.S. Canada recently updated its U.S. travel advisory, warning Canadians about entry and exit requirements and to “expect scrutiny” of electronic devices at ports of entry. As a result, experts are advising travellers to use burner phones to protect their personal data from border agents.

If you’re a Canadian citizen or resident who recently travelled to the U.S. and experienced issues or anything unusual while crossing the border or at immigration, we want to hear from you for an upcoming feature.
