There’s a lot to consider when choosing universities in Canada, and one of the most important factors is how well it prepares you to find a job.
If you’re in search of universities in Canada that are right for you, education marketplace CourseCompare has just ranked the best ones for 2026.
According to the report, universities are facing several challenges, such as budget issues due to inflation, declining enrolment numbers due to changes to study permits, and cooling interest from students abroad. As a result, these institutions need to update their course curriculum and program offerings at “an increasingly breakneck pace, to keep up with the speed of change in industry.”
“More than ever, universities are under pressure to demonstrate return on investment for their students, who expect to graduate equipped not just with knowledge but with networks, with hands-on experience under their belt, and with a job offer that will start them off on their career path,” states the report.
While research opportunities and top-tier instruction still matter, another mark of a top university is its partnerships in various industries and its ability to connect students with those already in the field.
CourseCompare ranked universities in Canada by evaluating each school’s funding, teaching, student reputation, campus life, industry reputation, connections, and employment networks.
“The result is a list of the top 20 schools in the country best equipped to give students the education and opportunities that will translate to resilient careers, even in the face of an uncertain job market or economy,” states CourseCompare.
