Trump posts cryptic picture after "joking" about Canada becoming 51st state
US President-elect Donald Trump appears to have Canada on his mind after posting a cryptic picture on Tuesday afternoon.
Trump published the AI-generated image on his Truth Social and Instagram accounts. It depicts him looking over mountain ranges and standing next to the Canadian flag.

“Oh Canada!” reads the post’s caption.
The timing of the post has the internet talking as it comes after Trump made headlines for suggesting that Canada should become the 51st US state.
Trump reportedly made the comments on November 29 during dinner with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other government officials at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The meeting occurred just days after Trump took to social media andĀ threatened a 25% tariffĀ on products from Mexico and Canada unless both countries tightened their borders to prevent drug trafficking and illegal migration.
A source toldĀ Fox News that Trump allegedly informed Trudeau that if he could not meet his demands āwithout ripping the US off in trade,ā then Canada could perhaps become a state or two with Trudeau as governor.
Following Trump’s questionable suggestion, Canada’s Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc clarified that the president-elect was merely joking.
WhileĀ speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill on December 3, he said it was ānot the context at all” and the comment was “not serious.”
āThe conversation was going to be lighthearted. The president was telling jokes. The president was teasing us, of course, on that issue. It is in no way a serious comment,” stated LeBlanc.
However, Trump’s Truth Social post has raised eyebrows, leaving many confused by what he meant by posting about Canada after his comments about the True North becoming the newest US state.
