With gas prices still high across Canada, the updated Shell loyalty program is offering drivers a chance to earn money back each time they hit the pump.
The revamped Shell loyalty program allows Canadians more ways to earn cash back and rack up points each time they fill up the tank. By stacking rewards programs, they can potentially earn as much as 13¢ per litre — a welcome boost as the cost of living continues to rise. Shell is working with Scotiabank, Tangerine, and Scene+ to offer Canadians more ways to hopefully ease the pain at the pump.
“Shell is teaming up with Scene+, Scotiabank, and Tangerine to create a loyalty experience that gives you more value on everyday visits,” reads the website.

Starting Tuesday, Canadians can earn points on fuel, car washes, and convenience store purchases at any of the 1,400 locations nationwide.
Canadians can unlock savings by linking their eligible Scotiabank or Tangerine card to their Shell Go+ account in the Shell App. Once linked, all you have to do is pay using your linked Scotiabank card, the app, and by entering the phone number connected to your account.
“Your savings will apply automatically when you fuel up,” states the site.
Here’s a breakdown of the multiple ways you can save every time you stop at a Shell gas station:
For Scotiabank customers:
- Eligible debit or credit cards linked to a Shell Go+ account allow you to save 3¢ per litre on every grade of fuel instantly.
- Eligible credit cards linked to a Shell Go+ account can earn an additional 4¢ per litre on V-Power fuel.
- You can also get up to 3¢ per litre in Scene+ points value when you fill up with V-Power and pay with a linked Scotiabank credit card that earns Scene+ points.
For Tangerine customers:
- Save 3¢ per litre with eligible credit cards linked to your Shell Go+ account.
- Save an extra 4¢ per litre when you fill up with V-Power and pay with a Tangerine card that earns Scene+ points and is linked to your Shell Go+ account.
- Earn up to 3¢ per litre in Scene+ points when you fill up with V-Power and pay with an eligible Tangerine Credit Card that earns Scene+ points and is linked to your Shell Go+ account.
In addition, Canadians can earn or redeem Scene+ points on fuel, car washes, or eligible convenience store purchases. And if you’re an eligible CAA member who’s also a Shell Go+ member, you can stack an additional 3¢ per litre, bringing your savings to a total of 13¢ per litre.
In a release, Simona Salter, executive vice president, cards, loyalty, payments, and client experience at Scotiabank, stated that it’s important to show up for clients “in the moments that matter most.”
“Through the continued expansion of Scene+, with valued rewards partners like Shell — and alongside Tangerine — we are creating more opportunities for Scotiabank clients to earn and save on purchases they already make, so everyday spending is more rewarding.”
