Costco just made a new change and here's what pet owners should know
You can get pretty much anything at Costco these days, and now that includes your pets’ prescriptions.
According to a recent video shared by Costco influencer Andy Shen, better known as “Costco Andy,” Costco pharmacies nationwide are now offering prescription medications for pets, giving members another way to save on the cost of caring for their furry friends.
The Costco Member Prescription Program includes discounts on a wide range of common pet medications, with savings of between 10 and 50 per cent or more, depending on the drug, according to Costco’s website.

Available medications cover a wide variety of conditions, including flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, diabetes, pain relief, antibiotics, anxiety, allergies, hot spots, and more. Whether it’s a dog, cat, or horse, the supercentre says it’ll prescribe it.

Some popular medications available through the program include NexGard, Simparica Trio, Heartgard, Apoquel, Bravecto, Vetmedin, Carprofen, Gabapentin, Vetsulin, and Cerenia.
To use the service, pet owners can either bring an existing prescription from their veterinarian to a Costco pharmacy or ask their vet to send the prescription directly to Costco by phone or fax.
Members just need to present their Costco membership card to receive the discounted pricing.
Costco says there is no additional fee to access the program, and home delivery is also available for eligible pet prescriptions.
Between food, toys, treats and vet visits, pets can be expensive, so saving on prescription medications certainly never hurts! Now if only we could claim them as dependants on our insurance.
