
It’s certainly an unforgettable week for two lucky Canadians who each won a Lotto Max prize worth $1 million.
The Lotto Max draw took place on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and the winning numbers were 15, 16, 21, 27, 28, 33, 39, and bonus 10. No one matched the seven numbers to score the life-changing $65-million jackpot.
Although the top prize is still up for grabs, someone in Canada matched six of the seven numbers and the bonus number, winning the second prize worth $241,169.60. According to PlayNow, that winning ticket was purchased in Western Canada.
Forty-nine people matched six of the seven numbers, thereby winning the third prize. Each one will receive their share worth $4,921.80.
At the time, there were eight Maxmillions prizes to be won, and two people managed to match the winning numbers 13, 17, 23, 31, 39, 40, 48, and 13, 21, 28, 36, 40, 49, 50. As a result, each one will soon claim a $1-million prize. One ticket was sold in Ontario, while the other was sold in Western Canada.

In B.C., one lottery player is now $500,000 after winning the Lotto Max Extra Prize. No one in Ontario won the $1-million Encore prize.
The last time someone won the jackpot was on Friday, July 11, when two lottery players from Quebec split the $70-million Lotto Max prize.
Jacques Deschamps, a 60-something entrepreneur living in Montérégie, Que., and Wilhelmina Van Leeuwen, a retiree from Montréal, were shocked to discover that they were each $35 million richer.
Deschamps said he’ll use his winnings to spoil his family, travel, and buy a condo in Montréal. Van Leeuwen plans to use her winnings to travel first class. Read their full story online.
The next Lotto Max draw is on Friday, August 15, and the jackpot has grown to $70 million. There are also 10 Maxmillions prizes to be won.
