A retired couple from Ontario hit the lottery jackpot for the second time in almost three years.

Brantford residents Robert and Lynor Gilks are $50,000 richer after winning a top prize with Instant Super Strike.

The retirees have been playing with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for nearly 40 years. Their go-to games include Lotto Max, Lottario, and various Instant tickets.

This isn’t Robert and Lynor’s first major lottery win. In December 2022, the pair won a $1 million prize with Instant Ultimate. Now, just over two and a half years later, they’ve returned to the OLG Prize Centre to celebrate their second big win.

“I was on my way home when I stopped at the gas station and bought this ticket,” Robert recalled, as the couple visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim their lottery winnings. “I played it right away at the store and realized it was a winner. In that moment, I was so happy and excited.”

Robert immediately called Lynor to share the amazing news. “She was just as thrilled as I was,” he said with a smile.

In 2022, the parents used their first lottery prize to pay off their mortgage, complete home renovations, and help their son.

With the new $50,000 prize, the husband and wife plan to complete some home renovations, treat themselves to a nice vacation, and save the rest of their windfall.

“It feels great to be winners,” said the pair. “This money will be really helpful with our finances.”

The lucky lottery ticket was purchased at Petro-Canada on Clarence Street South in Brantford.

These multiple wins are more common than you might think. Recently, another Ontario player celebrated his second win in three years.
