Sometimes an impulse purchase at the grocery store can be a good thing. For Canadian lottery players Marlon and Jennifer Camposagrado, buying a lottery ticket on a whim became a life-changing windfall.

The Vancouver, BC, couple had a good feeling while shopping, so they purchased an extra Lotto 6/49 ticket. That fortuitous ticket scored them $1 million from the February 8, 2025, draw.

“I was at home and when I scanned the Lotto! App, I thought it said $1,000,” Marlon shared of the moment he discovered they won.

“I was just so happy seeing that number I decided to go to London Drugs to cash out. When I got there, the lady said, ‘No, wait a minute let me call someone!’ That’s when I found out and I called Jennifer right away.”

The Camposagrados bought and validated their winning ticket at the London Drugs on Victoria Drive and 41st Avenue in Vancouver.

Jennifer didn’t believe the good news at first, saying, “I was so shocked; I started crying happy tears at first and then needed a moment to take it in.”

She quickly snapped to her senses as she still needed to go to work that day. Both Jennifer and Marlon explained that, for them, life is about being there for others and that they are dedicated to their work.

Saving for retirement is an important goal for Marlon and Jennifer, though they do plan on celebrating a milestone birthday in a “big way.” The Camposagrados also plan on visiting family in the Philippines with part of their winnings.

When asked how it feels to win, Jennifer replied excitedly, “Happy! It’s just a beautiful experience for us!”
