Two Canadian siblings are still in disbelief that they’re now multimillionaires after scoring a massive lottery jackpot.

Jonathan and Mylene live in Toronto, Ont., and have been playing the lottery together for almost two years. The pair enjoys playing numbers that are special to them and their families, and it’s a strategy that actually worked.

Jonathan recalled being half asleep one morning and scanning their ticket on the OLG app.

“At first, I thought we won $75,000. My eyes were still sleepy,” he recalled. “When I put on my glasses to take a second look, I noticed there were more zeros, and I was so happy!”

For the first time in OLG’s history, a brother-sister duo won a major lottery jackpot, scoring the $75-million Lotto Max prize in the March 3 draw.

Jonathan then woke up Mylene to share the news, and when she finally realized it was real after counting all the zeroes, she recalls crying tears of joy.

“Once I realized it was $75 million, I was so excited. It was unbelievable!” she said. “I’ve always dreamt of something like this, but never imagined it would come true. But finally it has!”

Jonathan’s wife, however, needed more convincing that it wasn’t a joke.

“I guess because I played jokes on her before, she thought it was not real,” he said with a laugh.

For the siblings, the win means being able to take care of their loved ones.

“We came to Canada for a better life for ourselves and our families,” said Jonathan. “My main priority is taking care of my parents, my wife, and my children. My children will have their education paid for. I want them to have the best of the best.”

Now that she’s financially set for life, the future will look very different for Mylene.

“I made my living cleaning beautiful houses, and now I can clean my own new beautiful home,” she said.

Jonathan said he wants to build a chapel in his hometown, while Mylene is looking forward to travelling to Germany, Austria, and Japan with their entire family. But she also plans to explore closer to home.

“We want to travel across Canada. There’s so much beauty in discovering this incredible country we’re proud to call home,” she said.
