One Canadian couple got an unforgettable wedding gift after discovering they had won a massive lottery prize.

Lottery player Trevor Mullins lives in Halifax, N.S., with his wife Amber. The pair recently celebrated their wedding. One day, Trevor was at a gas station when he decided to try his luck by buying a Lotto 6/49 lottery ticket.

Trevor decided to check the results after the draw, which took place on Sept. 12, and saw that he had won something.

“I thought, ‘Great, maybe we won a few thousand,’ and we were just planning our
honeymoon,” he shared. “Then we figured out we had won the Gold Ball draw for $1 million, and then Amber cried for four hours.”

He recalled how Amber couldn’t stop pacing around the house and had to walk around the city to process the happy news.

“I was excited because my whole life just changed,” he said. “Every money problem I ever had went away.”

For Trevor, the win means greater financial security: he can finally pay off his daughters’ student loans, start an education fund for his grandson, invest, and plan for retirement.

“It couldn’t have come at a better time in my life,” he stated. “All I want to do is make their lives a little bit easier, and it’s a proud moment when you can do that for your kids.”

The couple also plans to upgrade their honeymoon with a luxury resort getaway and to buy a yellow Corvette.

“It couldn’t have come at a better time in my life,” Trevor said.

Trevor purchased his winning Lotto 6/49 ticket at the Inglis Street Circle K in Halifax, N.S. The retailer will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
