Lightning struck twice for one Canadian who just landed another lottery prize after a massive win in 2024.
Lottery player Michel Boisvert is no stranger to winning big. The Mauricie, Que., resident won a life-changing $1 million in the May 8, 2024, Lotto 6/49 draw after buying his lucky ticket at a convenience store.
The then-72-year-old said he was so thrilled that he started hugging people at the store. Before his big win, he had been planning to return to work, but the added financial security meant that he could finally retire.
“I’m not ever going back to work, that’s for sure. I’ve got the confirmation in my pocket,” he said, referring to the shirt pocket where he had kept the valuable ticket.
He said he would use his winnings to spoil his spouse and children, and treat himself to a new car.

Two years later, Boisvert found himself at the Loto-Quebec headquarters once again after winning $500,000 in the April 1 Extra draw. However, winning the lottery on April Fools’ Day made it that much harder for Boisvert to convince family and friends that he had just won for the second time.
He said that while getting his tires changed, he had gone to a retailer to validate his ticket. When he saw that he had won $500,000, he hugged the store staff, just like he did in 2024.
When he reached home, he announced to his spouse, “We won another prize!”
He said he wants to spoil his daughter with his winnings and also plans to make a donation to a charity doing cancer research.
