
An Ontario lottery player is celebrating her first major lottery win after only eight months of playing.
Kitchener resident Maia T. won a $250,000 top prize with the scratch ticket Instant Bingo Multiplier.
“Bingo is my favourite game,ā she shared while visiting the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

One night, after her husband went to sleep, Maia played the Bingo Multiplier ticket he had bought her.
“I sat there staring at the ticket for about an hour,ā she recalled with a chuckle. āThen I woke my husband up to reveal the news, saying, āI think I won a quarter of a million dollars.ā He couldn’t believe it!ā
Maia said she and her husband popped some champagne to celebrate their lottery windfall.
āIt felt so nice,ā she added with a smile. “I also shared the news with my best friend.ā
The 30-year-old has fun plans for her prize. She’s looking forward to taking a trip to Croatia and Italy to celebrate their honeymoon.
“We’re also planning on purchasing a deep freezer, sharing with family, and donating to church. I’ve already splurged on a shopping trip and treated myself to some new AirPods,ā she concluded.

It was a life-changing weekend for several Canadian lottery players who each landed major prizes.
The biggest lottery prize won over the weekend was the $5-million Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw on Saturday, May 2. According to OLG, the winning ticket was sold in Stoney Creek, Ont. Check if you have the winning numbers.
