It was definitely a great weekend for one Canadian lottery player who managed to score a $1-million prize.

The lottery draw for Lotto 6/49 took place on Saturday, Feb. 7, and left one person $1 million richer after they matched the White Ball winning numbers 32789773-01. According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), the ticket was sold in Winnipeg, Man. The Gold Ball prize was worth $26 million, but no one won the top prize.

There were no big winners for the Classic Draw prize either, as no one matched the winning numbers 16, 23, 30, 43, 46, and 48, plus bonus number 10, to score the $5-million prize or the second prize worth $249,818. The third prize, however, will be shared by 65 winners, who’ll each receive $1,613.80 after matching five of the six winning numbers.

In B.C., no one won the Classic Draw Extra prize worth $500,000, and in Ontario, no one will be taking home the $1-million Encore prize.

The last time someone scored the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize was when home-care aide Cora Cuthbert from Kisbey, Sask., won $18 million in the Jan. 7 draw.

“It took a couple of days before it started to hit me. Then I thought of my dad and started crying,” she said. “I remember my parents playing the lottery when I was a kid, and for most of my life, and now, I do. That’s the only reason I play.”

The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and the Gold Ball prize is now worth $28 million.

No one won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra prize in B.C. or the $1-million Encore prize.
