A Niagara Falls resident stuck to the exact lottery numbers for two decades, and now her persistence has finally paid off.
Laurie Kent is celebrating her first big Lotto 6/49 win, taking home a life-changing second prize worth $105,904.20 in the March 19 Lotto 6/49 draw.
āIt was morning, and I was getting ready for work. As I put on my shoes, I thought to myself, āI should pick up a ticket,ā and then remembered I had yet to check the ones I already had,ā Laurie recounted.
She scanned her LOTTO 6/49 ticket using the OLG app, and that’s when everything changed.
“When I saw the prize amount, I screamed with joy and ran around my living room!” she said.
Laurie added that one of the best parts of her win was sharing the news with her loved ones. āI told my family, and they said it couldnāt have happened to a better person. Everyone was thrilled for me.ā
The long-time player will now use her winnings to turn some travel dreams into reality and add to her retirement fund.
And how does it feel to finally hit the jackpot after all these years? āBeing a winner is the best feeling ever! Iām overwhelmed and humbled,ā Laurie concluded.
Proof that sometimes, patience does pay off, eh?
Another Canadian Lotto 6/49 player, Denise Berube of Saint-AndrƩ, N.B., became a multimillionaire recently and is also celebrating with extravagant travel plans.
Like Kent, she played the same set of numbers for decades: a combination of a birthday, a jersey number she wore in high school, and the age at which she had planned to retire.

Berube said she plans to celebrate her life-changing win by taking her husband and sister on a trip to Africa.
