A lucky grandmother in Ontario is tens of thousands of dollars richer after a lottery win.
Niagara Falls resident Elizabeth Howe won a $50,000 top prize with Instant Bingo.
The grandmother is a casual lottery player who picks up a ticket when the mood strikes her.
āWhen I do play, I like Instant Bingo. Itās familiar, I understand the game mechanics, and I like that it takes a little longer to play,ā she said while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

She was scratching the lottery ticket when she saw that she had revealed the outside box. Howe couldn’t believe it, so she downloaded the OLG app and scanned her ticket.
“Even though the message said I had won $50,000, I still didnāt believe it,ā Howe smiled.
āI took my ticket to the store to have it validated. When the prize was confirmed, I was in shock, yet surprisingly calm. Everyone else in the store was going crazy!ā
Her dad and her sister were the first to receive the good news of the lottery win, but they were also skeptical.
“They didnāt believe me at first because Iām the jokester of the family,ā she laughed.
āI canāt remember a time Iāve been as excited as I was that day. You always think it will happen to someone else.ā
Howe plans to use her winnings to purchase items for her new home and treat herself to a well-deserved vacation.
She bought her winning lottery ticket at Big Deal Food Mart on York Street in St. Catharines.

The $80 million jackpot remains unclaimed, so the prize pool for the next draw has grown to $100 million altogether, including an estimated 20 Maxmillions.
