The long weekend turned out to be a lucky one for several Canadian lottery players who beat the odds in the Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 draws.
The Aug. 1 Lotto Max draw had a $50-million jackpot up for grabs. The winning numbers were 12, 21, 26, 35, 39, 44, 50, and bonus 18. While no one won the jackpot or the $221,317.60 second prize, 40 Canadians matched six out of seven numbers, taking home $5,532.90 each.
There were also two Maxmillions on the line, and one Alberta lottery player matched all of the winning numbers (2, 7, 20, 37, 42, 43, 46) to nab one of the $1-million prizes.

The wins didn’t stop there. The winning numbers for the Lotto Max Extra prize were 29, 46, 51, and 63. Someone in Parksville, B.C., matched all four numbers, winning the $500,000 lottery prize.
Some Canadians also struck gold in the Lotto 6/49 draw on Saturday, Aug. 2. The Gold Ball jackpot was at $32 million. Unfortunately, no one won the jackpot, but the 12th White Ball was drawn.
A lottery player in Ontario matched the winning numbers 41404777-06, taking home the $1-million White Ball prize.
The winning numbers for the Classic Draw prize were 07, 11, 23, 29, 44, 46 and bonus 42. Sadly, no one won the $5-million lottery jackpot or the second prize.
The winning numbers for the Classic Draw Extra prize were 1, 43, 51, and 74. No one won the $500,000 top prize, but 50 Canadians did match three out of four numbers to win a modest $1,000 each.
If the odds weren’t in your favour over the long weekend, not to worry. The new week brings more chances.
