Two Canadians become overnight millionaires after Lotto 6/49 draw
It’s not every day that you check your lottery ticket and discover that your life has suddenly changed — but that’s exactly what happened to two lucky Canadians.
The lottery players just woke up to an exciting new reality after winning big in the recent draw. The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and all eyes were on the Gold Ball Prize worth $42 million.
No one scored the top prize this time, but one lucky winner did snag the White Ball Prize after they matched the winning numbers 54033987-01. According to OLG, the ticket was sold in Greater Sudbury in Ontario, and the winner is now $1 million richer.
Another Ontario winner has a big reason to celebrate after matching the winning numbers 12, 30, 31, 35, 41, and 48, with bonus number 21. The lucky winner will have to get used to life as a multimillionaire, as they’ll soon be taking home the Lotto 6/49 $5-million Classic Jackpot. The ticket was sold in Scarborough.
It’s been a while since someone won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Prize.
The last time someone won the prize was on June 6, when Bradley V., a 47-year-old father and financial planner, scored the $12-million prize.

“I logged into my OLG.ca account to investigate further and thought there had to be a mistake,” said the Peterborough, Ont. resident.
He said he wants to use his winnings to support his family and treat himself to a new vehicle, perhaps an Audi or a BMW.
Although he wants to keep working for now, he said he hopes to retire a little earlier to enjoy life with his family.
