Festival season is our favourite season in Canada, but it can get pretty draining being outside all day, especially if you’re unprepared.
Here are some essentials to pack in your bag before heading out to a festival this summer.
Reusable water bottle
If you’re going to be outdoors all day in the hot sun, you need to stay hydrated. Keep a reusable water bottle on hand so that you can keep refilling throughout the day and avoid paying $4 at the concession for a bottle of water.

Sunscreen
This is another one that is crucial to have. Nothing is worse than getting a major sunburn on the first day of a festival, only to be sore and miserable the rest of the time.

Electrolyte tabs
It’s essential to stay hydrated, but electrolytes are another very critical part of that. It gets pretty sweaty in those giant crowds of people, so make sure to pack a couple of electrolyte tablets.

Mini first-aid
Most festivals will have a first-aid tent on site, so you don’t need to go all out with your first-aid kit. Still, it doesn’t hurt to keep a small bag with a few bandaids and a bottle of Tylenol on hand.

Bug spray
As much as we love summer in Canada, we could do without the wild amount of bugs that come out during the season. You’ll be much more comfortable out there if you remember to pack a bottle of bug spray. Your friends will thank you too.

Something to charge your phone with
You want to capture all of the action, but it’s so hot outside, and your phone’s battery is dying fast. Pack a phone charger and a battery bank so you have nothing to worry about.

Hand sanitizer
It can get pretty gross on the festival grounds; pack a bottle of hand sanitizer to keep your hands clean, especially after using those on-site porta-potties.

Earplugs
Nothing is worse than your ears ringing days after going to a concert, but thankfully, if you’re smart, packing some earplugs can prevent this.

Hat
Keep your scalp safe, and pack a hat in your bag before heading out. It’s nice to have one, even if it doesn’t match your festival fit.

Sunglasses
In addition to making you look extra cool, sunglasses are another way to keep yourself safe from the sun this festival season.
