If you bought electrical outlets at Home Hardware, you may want to check if they’re part of a massive recall in Canada.
Health Canada issued a recall notice on Thursday for a brand of electrical outlets sold at Home Hardware stores nationwide.
According to the agency, the recall involves three white coloured models of Electrical Devices Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) safety outlets with plates.
“The terminal screws on the product may not tighten properly, which may create an increase in temperature, posing a fire hazard,” reads the alert.
As of July 9, the company has received 812 reports of faulty screws that were stripped or unable to be tightened, one report of fire resulting in property damage, and no reports of injuries in Canada.
To check if any of your outlets are part of the recall, you can identify the affected product by locating the letters “TR” stamped on the front and the letters “LGL” embossed on the back.

The item number is located on the bottom left of the front of the product packaging. The model number can be found on the bottom left of the product, but it may only be visible by removing the decorative wall plate.
