A Guelph, Ontario, great-grandfather is celebrating a lucky lottery win that’s left him over $100,000 richer.

David Connor matched the last six of seven numbers in the exact order in the ENCORE lottery game’s August 2 draw. He scored an additional $101 on the PICK-2 selections, bringing his total jackpot to $100,101.

The great-grandfather has been a regular lotto player since the 1970s. He checked his ticket at the store and found out he had won.

“The clerk scanned my ticket and said, ‘I can’t cash that here – it’s too much money.’ I thought I’d won $1,000!”

The first person he called to share the news was his daughter.

“She always helps me get my tickets when I’m not able to myself, so I had to tell her first,” he stated.

The retiree wants to use his winnings to pay his bills and will share it with his kids. He also plans on celebrating his win with a cold beer.

Connor–a  motorcycle crash survivor– also supports the Ride for Sight charity, which raises money for vision research.
