Canada's most popular international destination for 2026 revealed

Forget the usual beach getaway. Apparently, Canadians had a different destination in mind this year.

New data from online travel agency FlightHub revealed the most popular international destination for Canadian travellers in 2026 — and there’s a new city at the top of the list.

Delhi, India ranked as the single most popular individual international (overseas) city destination on FlightHub. Statistics Canada defines “overseas” as any country in the world outside of Canada and the United States. Delhi bumped Tokyo, Japan, which ranked number one last year.

Given Canada’s large Indian and South Asian communities, many of whom have family and personal connections to the country, it may make sense as to why Delhi ranked number one.

There’s no shortage of things to see in and around India’s capital, with a population of around 23.3 million.

Visitors can check out the 72-metre-tall tower of Qutb Minar, wander through the beautiful garden mausoleum of Humayun’s Tomb, or make the trip to nearby Agra to see one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks: the Taj Mahal, commissioned by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century.

The findings are based on FlightHub’s booking and search data from October 2025 to August 2026, compared with the same period the year before.

While India had Canadians stamping their passports more than anywhere else, another part of the world saw an even bigger surge.

According to FlightHub, Casablanca, Morocco, was the breakout destination of 2026, with bookings soaring 250 per cent compared with last year.

Bookings to Liberia in Costa Rica jumped 145 per cent, while Aruba went up 118 per cent and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, rose 109 per cent.

Canadians seem to be bringing company along for the ride. Solo travel’s share of bookings dropped 2.7 percentage points this year, while trips taken as couples, families, and groups all edged up, the agency says.
