Canadian planning a Caribbean vacation after scoring his SECOND lottery win

A Canadian lottery winner says he hopes to take a trip to the Caribbean after netting his second lotto win.

Calgary resident Stephen Churchill told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) that he was about to go to bed when he found out he was the winner of a $2 million Western 649 prize.

“I realized, ā€˜Oh my gosh, that’s really a lot of money!’” he said. “I couldn’t sleep after that!”

The first person the winner told was his mom, rushing downstairs to tell her that someone in Calgary had won the prize, and that person was him.

“We just kept passing the ticket back and forth to be sure it was real. I sat at the dining table, and it dawned on me that I could buy the house if I wanted to—I could buy a house!” he told the WCLC.

Churchill also called his sister that night to share the exciting news, and he is already making plans for how to enjoy his winnings.

“I’d like to go on a Caribbean cruise,” he said. “I’d like to go on a nice big ship because I like to explore them!”

Churchill and his mother purchase their tickets together each week, and this isn’t his first big win. He had previously won $100,000 on Extra several years ago and used the winnings to take his family on a Disney cruise.

Churchill purchased his winning Western 649 ticket from Circle K at 10 Chaparral Drive SE in Calgary. He won his prize in the March 15 draw by matching all six of the numbers selected: 12, 15, 22, 31, 36, and 42.

Churchill isn’t the only Albertan to be making the news this week after scoring more than one lottery win while playing — a southern Alberta man has won the lottery not once, not twice, but THREE times over the past nine months.
