'10/10, no notes': Tourist's 'Canada haul' goes viral

Canada may have its fair share of political drama with the U.S. right now, but one European tourist has sparked a much more wholesome international exchange: showing the world exactly what she bought while visiting the country.

X user @teatrodiravol2 went viral after posting photos of her neatly arranged “Canada haul” on Aug. 30, a week after returning home from her trip. According to replies on X, the tourist spent four days in Montreal and seven in Toronto; it is unclear if she went anywhere else.

Her “Canada haul” items include a Blue Jays World Series Champions shirt, a McGill University shirt, an Aritzia hoodie, and other kitschy yet cute souvenirs like a Niagara Falls magnet, teddy bear, and postcard.

So far, the X user’s post has racked up over 1.3 million views, 8,700 likes, and hundreds of comments and reposts.

Daily Hive reached out to the poster for comment but has not heard back at the time of publication.

Amid all the fun tourist knick-knacks she proudly showed off, she also displayed a series of drugstore buys. A Tide pen, Crest toothpastem, and Life-branded extra strength painkillers may not seem like hot-ticket items for anyone visiting Canada, but she had her reasons for stocking up on these specific items while on vacation.

“People laughing at me buying those painkillers, Crest toothpaste, acne wash, Tide pens, and Eos lotion… SORRY I’M FROM EUROPE AND WE DON’T HAVE THOSE HERE OKAY,” she writes.

And while she may not have spoken to us about her haul, she did address the virality of the situation directly on X, writing, “I find it so funny how this blew up and people are surprised at the concept of a ‘Canada haul’… is it not normal/common to do a little haul of everything you’ve bought after a trip?”

Most people online are praising the X user for being so unabashedly forthcoming about her recent purchases in the Great White North. “10/10 no notes hit every major pillar right there,” writes another X user.

Another came to the tourist’s defense, also calling it a “10/10 purchase.”

Others love how “fun” and “whimsical” the post is, suggesting that everyone should show off the things they buy on vacation.

Meanwhile, some Canadians say the post is a reminder that things we take for granted can be exciting to international visitors.

For the most part, Canadians seem to give this shopping haul their stamp of approval.

One user on X chimed in and said how “homesick” this viral post made them feel.

It goes to show you that you never know what international visitors will find exciting about Canada. What may seem like a boring everyday item to us could end up being one of the most memorable souvenirs in their suitcase.
